SimIt Is Now SimItNow
Our OCPP charge point simulator has a new name and a new home. Here's what changed, why, and what stays exactly the same.
What changed
SimIt is now SimItNow. The product moves off the
simit.ddosoft.com subdomain to its own domain,
www.simitnow.com,
reflecting that it now stands as its own product rather than a subdomain of DDOSoft.
Nothing about your account, your simulated stations, or your existing test setups
needs to change on your end beyond the URL you use to reach it.
Why the rename
The rename was necessary to resolve a naming conflict with an existing trademark. We would rather deal with that early, while the product is still growing its user base, than build more brand recognition around a name we might later be forced to change under worse circumstances. It is not a response to any change in direction for the product, and it did not come out of a rebranding exercise for its own sake — it was the direct, practical fix for a specific naming problem.
What SimItNow does
For readers new to the product: SimItNow is a charge point simulator. It speaks both OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0.1, and it stands in for physical EV charging stations so that the team running a central system — a CSMS — can test against realistic charger behaviour without buying hardware. You can run many simulated stations at once against a real backend, which makes it useful for load testing and for exercising edge cases — reconnects, offline authorisation, charging-profile handling — that are awkward to reproduce with physical equipment. A free plan is available for smaller test setups.
What stays the same
The simulator itself is unchanged by the rename: the OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 support, the ability to run many simulated stations against real backends, and the free plan all carry over exactly as they were. The team behind it hasn't changed either, and there is no migration for existing users to perform beyond updating the address they use to reach the product.
What to update if you link to it
If you have bookmarks, documentation, or code samples pointing at
simit.ddosoft.com, update them to
www.simitnow.com.
The old subdomain is still live for now, so nothing breaks immediately, but new
integrations and links should point at the new domain going forward, and we'd
encourage updating existing references when it's convenient rather than waiting.
